Europeans began to write down the folk and fairy tales of their various countries only when Johan Gutenberg invented his printing press in 1450. Some of the better-known collectors of folktales are Joseph Jacobs of England, the Grimm brothers of Germany and the Norwegians, Peter Asbjornsen and Moe Jorgen.
